NORTH TEXAS (0-10) at UC IRVINE (4-6), 7 p.m., KUCI-FM (88.9)--For the Anteaters, there is no better conference-opening opponent. North Texas has been walloped by one Division I power after another--Maryland, Arkansas, etc.--all on the road. The Eagles have lost games by an average of 31 points. Of course, the same thing happened last season, when the Eagles were 1-9 in nonconference play and beat the Anteaters in the Big West opener. Little remains from that Eagle team other than forward Charles Washington, who averages 13 points. Irvine’s Stan Divranos, a 6-foot-8 center out with a strained back, may play.
