Cannoli Alfresco

Share

I very much enjoyed Susan King’s article on the ongoing social influence of “The Godfather,” especially for guys (“ ‘Godfather’ Wisdom Guys Can’t Refuse,” Dec. 31). But please do me a service and let mine be the letter you print of the thousands you receive correcting her assertion that Clemenza uttered the famous “Leave the gun. Take the cannoli” line shortly before shooting Rocco Lampone.

In fact, it was right after Lampone whacked stool pigeon Paulie Gatto somewhere in the grasslands of Long Island. Lampone, Al Neri and Clemenza survive throughout the film and are all on hand to congratulate Michael at the end of the baptism.

If you do me this honor and print my letter, perhaps there will come a day when I can do a service for you.
