John O. Tynes Elementary School, in partnership with the Ben & Jerry’s in Fullerton, will host a scoop-a-thon fund-raiser Friday for the Reyes brothers. Elfego Reyes, 10, who lost his left arm after a traffic accident that killed his mother in September, will be at the event along with his older brother, Juan, who is now Elfego’s legal guardian, said Mary Larson, one of the teachers organizing the event.
Larson said that no one at the school has seen Elfego since the accident and that he is greatly missed. Elfego is expected to return to Tynes Elementary this month, she said.
Tickets are $1 to try one scoop of ice cream. The fund-raiser will begin at 2 p.m. on the playground near the lunch areas at the school, 735 N. Stanford Drive.
