White-McCarty Moves to No. 2 for Purdue

Stephanie White-McCarty proved once again that she isn’t only a scorer.

White-McCarty scored 23 points Friday night to become Purdue’s No. 2 all-time scorer as the third-ranked Boilermakers, 13-1 overall and 5-0 in the Big Ten, won their 11th consecutive game with a 70-47 rout of Michigan State (8-7, 2-3) at West Lafayette, Ind.

But White-McCarty also had seven assists, six rebounds and six steals.

White-McCarty moved past Joy Holmes on the school’s scoring list with 1,768 points.

No. 11 Old Dominion 81, East Carolina 52--Mery Andrade and Lucienne Berthieu scored 13 points each and the Monarchs made 69% of their shots in the second half of the Colonial Athletic Assn. game at Greenville, N.C.

Andrade also had six rebounds, five assists and six steals.

Allison Trapp and Danielle Melvin scored 10 points each to lead East Carolina (9-5, 2-2).

No. 13 Virginia Tech 87, St. Bonaventure 64--Amy Wetzel scored 17 points and Tere Williams added 16 for the Hokies (16-0, 6-0) in an Atlantic 10 Conference game at St. Bonaventure, N.Y.

Melissa Fazio had 27 points and four steals for St. Bonaventure (6-9, 0-5).

No. 17 Ohio State 78, Indiana 60--Marrita Porter scored 21 points for the Buckeyes (12-3, 5-0) in a Big Ten game at Bloomington, Ind.

Indiana (12-8, 1-5) cut Ohio State’s lead to 34-30 on Summar Maines’ layup early in the second half. But Ohio State then went on a 14-6 run to take a 48-36 lead on Lauren Shenk’s three-pointer with 14:38 to play.

No. 20 Penn State 66, Iowa 60--Andrea Garner had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Nittany Lions (11-4, 3-2) in a Big Ten game at State College, Pa.

Penn State ended a three-game losing streak against the Hawkeyes (8-8, 3-3).
