About 25 patrons inside an Oxnard bar Friday night were robbed by two men brandishing handguns, police said. No one was injured and one of the suspected robbers was in custody Saturday.

About 10 p.m., an Oxnard police officer was getting gas for his patrol car when he was flagged down by the owner of El Tenampa bar, at 1325 S. Oxnard Blvd.

The owner, Heraclio Rodriguez, told the officer that there was a robbery in progress inside his bar. When the officer arrived at El Tenampa, he arrested one of the alleged robbers, who was identified as Mario Moreno Gonzalez, 26, of Los Angeles.

Officers were unable to find the second robber, who fled on foot, witnesses told police. The second robber was described as a Latino male, about 30 years old.

Witnesses said the robbers were in the bar shortly before the incident, but they had left and returned soon after with handguns. They then ordered the customers to give up their wallets and moved them into a storage room.

The gunmen took an undetermined amount of cash and jewelry, as well as money from the bar.

Gonzales was being held at the Ventura County Jail.
