Ensign Intermediate students are raising money to help the family of Timothy Meek, the dory fisherman who apparently drowned after his boat capsized about three miles from shore Dec. 20. Teachers have been given a copy of a newspaper article describing Meek’s ordeal at sea and the plight of his widow and two children, who live in Costa Mesa. Teachers will read the article to their students and keep buckets by classroom doors for donations.
