Mackey Scores 24 for UC Irvine
UC Irvine center Chelsea Mackey scored 24 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and had a career-high six blocked shots, leading UC Irvine to a 76-68 victory over visiting University of Idaho in women’s Big West Conference basketball Sunday.
Mackey had 18 points and eight rebounds in the first half as the Anteaters took a 35-23 lead at the break.
UC Irvine (7-8, 3-1) opened the second half with a 13-2 run, taking a 23-point lead.
Megan Stafford had 20 points for the Anteaters and freshman teammate Cindy Oparah had nine points and 10 rebounds.
Susan Woolf led Idaho (9-7, 2-2) with 19 points, including four three-pointers.
In another Big West Conference game:
Boise State 80, CS Fullerton 58--Erin Whiteside and Andrea Thieme scored 13 points each for host Fullerton (2-13, 0-4), which was outrebounded, 48-22.
