A Placentia woman was booked early Monday for attempted murder and “felony evading causing injury” after leading police on a high-speed chase from Anaheim to Bakersfield that left her boyfriend in a coma after he fell out of the car.

An Orange County sheriff’s deputy pulled over Jacqueline Fohrman’s 1989 Chevy Cavalier at 1:34 a.m. in Anaheim for a defective taillight, authorities said. Fohrman, 33, reportedly told the officer she was on parole and then sped off. Police pursued her at speeds up to 100 mph on the northbound I-5. In Newhall, the car slowed to about 10 mph and Fohrman’s boyfriend started to get out, but Fohrman apparently accelerated, throwing him to the ground, police said.

The man sustained head trauma and remains in critical condition at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Center in Valencia. Police are withholding his name pending identification verification.

Fohrman was stopped and arrested after officers put down a spike strip to flatten the car’s tires. Materials that could be used to make methamphetamine were found in the car, police said.

If her passenger dies, Fohrman could face murder charges, Newhall Police Officer Michelle Esposito said.
