Forward Dino Ciccarelli of the Florida Panthers was suspended without pay for two games Tuesday for a slashing incident with Buffalo Sabre defenseman Jason Woolley.

Ciccarelli was assessed a major penalty for slashing and a game misconduct at 17:14 of the third period in Monday’s game. Ciccarelli slashed Woolley across the wrist as the Buffalo player was carrying the puck from behind his net.

The defenseman will sit out the Panthers’ games against the New York Islanders tonight and against the New York Rangers on Thursday.

The Calgary Flames traded Swedish center Michael Nylander to the Tampa Bay Lightning for hard-hitting right wing Andrei Nazarov.

Nylander, 26, has played only nine games this season and has two goals and three assists. He sat out the first 23 games because of a knee injury.

Nazarov, 24, has two goals and 43 penalty minutes in 26 games this season, his fifth in the NHL. Nazarov has 591 penalty minutes and only 26 goals and 29 assists in 209 NHL games.
