Irvine Valley Women Rally to Win

Irvine Valley rallied from an 18-point deficit in the second half and defeated Fullerton, 54-52, in an Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball game Wednesday at Fullerton.

The Lasers (17-4, 5-0 in the conference) held Fullerton to 13 points and 26% shooting in the second half. Fullerton had a chance to tie the score when Irvine Valley’s Phouangmaly Pravongviengkham missed the front end of a one and one with nine seconds remaining, but the Hornets missed both shots.

Lauren O’Hara scored 14 points and Pravongviengkham had 11 points and six assists for Irvine Valley.

In another conference game:

Riverside 65, Golden West 61 (OT)--Kathleen Kelley made a three-pointer in overtime to give Riverside (6-14, 2-3) the lead for good. Amber McBride made two free throws with five seconds left in regulation for Riverside to force overtime.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball:

Riverside 86, Golden West 80--Jeff Jensen had 33 points and 14 rebounds for host Golden West (6-14, 1-4). Jensen made 12 of 19 shots, but the rest of the Rustlers made only 16 of 51.
