UC Irvine Beats UC Santa Barbara in Volleyball
UC Irvine defeated UC Santa Barbara for only the second time in school history, 7-15, 15-7, 15-11, 15-2, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball match Friday at UC Irvine.
Donnie Rafter had 25 kills and eight digs and Josh Richardson had 16 kills and eight blocks for Irvine (1-3, 1-2 in conference). Erick Helenihi had 13 kills and four blocks and Mike Rupp had 11 kills and six blocks for the Anteaters.
In Big West Conference women’s basketball:
Pacific 68, UC Irvine 64--Kirsten Cappel had a career-high 21 points and 10 rebounds and Nikole Peyton had 17 points, making five of eight three-pointers, for the Anteaters (7-9, 3-2).
Long Beach State 91, Cal State Fullerton 42--Erin Whiteside had 13 points and nine rebounds for CS Fullerton (2-14, 0-5).
