UC Irvine Wins Tennis Tournament
UC Irvine recorded its third consecutive shutout Sunday, defeating Fairleigh Dickinson, 7-0, in the finals of the Anteater Quadrangular men’s tennis tournament at UC Irvine.
The Anteaters’ No. 1 singles player, Thomas Bohun, improved to 3-0 with a straight-set victory Sunday, his third of the tournament. He defeated Boris Bogdanov, 6-2, 6-0.
The No. 1 doubles team of Chris Chung and Chris Ma, ranked 50th in the nation, picked up an 8-2 victory over Kavanc Cubukcu and Alvaro Echeverry.
Gonzaga finished second, and Northern Arizona was third.
In Big West women’s basketball:
Long Beach State 73, UC Irvine 58--Chelsea Mackey scored 16 points and teammate Megan Stafford had 15 for UC Irvine (7-10, 3-3).
Pacific 89, CS Fullerton 64--Junior center Erin Whiteside led the Titans with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
