Police released the identity Tuesday of a man found shot several times and slumped over his car steering wheel in front of Langdon Avenue Elementary School in North Hills.

Arturo Garcia, 26, of North Hollywood, was found just before school opened Monday, around 7 a.m., said Sgt. Dan Mastro of the LAPD’s Devonshire Division.

“We don’t know whether it was robbery or narcotics-related or whatever,” said Det. Mike Oppelt. “It’s too early to say.”

Detectives believe Garcia was shot several hours earlier on a nearby side street, where he collided with several parked cars before ending up in front of the school, Oppelt said.

Garcia was rushed to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he was listed in extremely critical condition Tuesday, police said.

Homicide investigators closed off an area in front of the school and on the neighboring street, causing minor delays for children on their way to school, Mastro said.
