A Placentia woman involved in a high-speed police chase from Anaheim to Bakersfield last week will face murder charges after the death of her passenger, authorities said Tuesday.

Jacqueline Fohrman, 33, will be arraigned today at Newhall Municipal Court in Valencia on charges of murder, felony evading arrest, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture, Newhall Officer Doug Sweeney said. Fohrman had methamphetamines in her body at the time of her arrest Jan. 18, Sweeney said.

The passenger, Bryant Mabery, 26, of Huntington Beach, died of head trauma Jan. 19 at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Center in Valencia. He apparently was thrown from Fohrman’s 1989 Chevy Cavalier in Newhall after the car slowed to about 10 mph along the shoulder of the northbound I-5, police said. Fohrman abruptly sped up as Mabery attempted to get out of the vehicle, according to police reports.

The high-speed chase commenced after an Orange County sheriff’s deputy pulled over Fohrman’s car at 1:34 a.m. in Anaheim for a defective taillight, police said. Fohrman reportedly told the officer she was on parole and then sped off. Police pursued her at speeds up to 100 mph.
