Council Orders Study of Helicopter Safety
LOS ANGELES —
The City Council voted Tuesday to seek an audit of the city’s helicopter operations, after a series of crashes, including one that killed four people last year.
The council directed City Administrative Officer Keith Comrie to form a team to draft a proposal for an audit that would look at issues including use, maintenance and equipment of helicopters and pilot training.
Councilman Mike Feuer proposed that an outside firm be hired to do the audit.
