A 28-year-old man who was shot after an argument near a Westlake hamburger stand remained in critical condition Friday, authorities said.

Gustavo Gonzales, 28, of Whittier was wounded in the neck, said Det. Andy Cicoria.

Robert Gorsci, a 24-year-old admitted tagger, was booked on charges of attempted murder Friday after he was arrested by LAPD officers. He was taken into custody after a vehicle chase from Rampart and Beverly boulevards to El Sereno, said Det. Tom Murrel.

Gorsci was with a group of five friends at Tommy’s Original Hamburgers when a man waiting in line winked or smiled at one of the three women in the group, Murrel said. One of the group members punched the man in the face, Murrell said.

A security guard ordered Gorsci’s group to leave. As they arrived at a parking lot across the street, Gonzales asked Gorsci what the confrontation was about, Murrel said.

An argument between the men ensued, prompting Gorsci to go to a car to retrieve a handgun that he fired twice at Gonzales, Murrel said.

Officers patrolling the area heard gunshots and noticed a man lying on the ground while several people pointed toward a fleeing car, Murrel said. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, a chase ensued.
