The city is in negotiations with Century Communications Corp. for what the cable television provider hopes is another 15-year deal. Negotiations should be finalized next week, City Manager Fred W. Maley said.
“We are doing our best to get city residents the best, sophisticated state-of-the-art system as soon as possible,” he said. Terms include the eventual rebuilding of the system in some areas, digital service and fiber-optic upgrades, additional basic channels and high-speed Internet access.
The city’s previous contract with Century was for 15 years with a two-year extension, which has expired.
