Rodriguez Has Powerful Game
Alex Rodriguez hit two homers and drove in four runs as the Seattle Mariners rallied from a seven-run deficit to beat the Texas Rangers, 13-12, Saturday night.
Rodriguez hit a two-run homer in the fourth off starter Aaron Sele and a solo shot in the eighth off reliever Danny Kolb as the Mariners ended a three-game losing streak.
Jose Mesa gave up an RBI single to Juan Gonzalez in the ninth before finishing for his 18th save.
Rodriguez, who spent almost five weeks on the disabled list earlier this season, has 14 homers. It was his third multi-homer game of the year and ninth of his career.
Texas scored four runs in the third and three in the fourth to take a 9-2 lead, but Seattle rallied with 10 runs over the next three innings to end the Rangers’ four-game winning streak.
Seattle’s Ken Griffey Jr. went two for four with a three-run double. Griffey has 77 RBIs, nine behind major league leader Manny Ramirez of Cleveland.
