The Public Safety Committee will remain short one member this year after the City Council this week decided to leave the position vacant temporarily. The seat was vacated by Brian Wolf, who resigned last month after moving from the city. His term expires Dec. 31, 2000.

Council members said they want the position filled for the last year of the term. Recruitment will begin in September to fill the position by December. The council had three options for filling the vacancy: recruiting and appointing an applicant; appointing someone from the list of applicants who expressed interest during the last recruitment; or leaving the seat vacant.
