A vigil for Sister Bernice Petroneitis, a popular nun who died in a car crash Monday, will be held at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Petroneitis, 79, had recently retired after 42 years in the School of Sisters of St. Francis, her friend Kathy Liuzzi said. On Monday, Petroneitis and her cousin Eleanore Maceika, 75, were driving to Milwaukee, where Petroneitis was retiring. Two hours into her trip, on Interstate 15 near Victorville, Petroneitis and Maceika were killed when their car left the highway and crashed into trees, Liuzzi said.
