Ronald R. Davison; Hair Salon Owner

Ronald R. Davison, the owner of Westlake Village Haircutting / Styling, died on Tuesday at his home in Wood Ranch. He was 67.

Davison was born April 30, 1932, in Glenham, S.D. While in high school in Waterloo, Iowa, he was an amateur boxer and became a local Golden Gloves champion.

After moving to California, he met Joan Crooks and they were married in Glendale on May 15, 1953.

Davison graduated from Pasadena City College in 1960 and went to barbering school. In 1967, he opened his salon, one of the first businesses in Westlake Village.

Davison was a member of the Men’s Club of Buenaventura. He was also an avid golfer and fisherman. He loved water skiing and snow skiing.

His wife said that he also spent many hours with his two dogs, Frankie and Johnny.

For the past six years, the couple enjoyed traveling. Most recently they had been to Australia.

In addition to his wife of 46 years, Davison is survived by their three daughters, Sandra Funcich of Simi Valley, Kim Thomas of Camarillo, Shelly Monetti of Agoura Hills; two sisters, Betty Wood of Hemet and Rose Seibert of Palmdale; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pierce Bros. Valley Oaks Mortuary in Westlake Village. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village, with the Rev. Larry DeWitt officiating. Burial will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.
