Principal Named to Legislative Action Panel

* Nancy Bradford, principal of Poinsettia Elementary School in Ventura, was appointed a member of the State Legislative Action Committee for the Assn. of California School Administrators.

As a member of the committee, Bradford will develop and maintain relationships with local legislators, in addition to helping coordinate the development of regional recommendations to the board of directors for the endorsement of legislative candidates.

Group Receives Grant for Career Program

* Jewish Family Service received a $10,000 grant from Ventura County Community Foundation’s Women’s Legacy Fund. The money will be used to support a new yearlong project titled “Essential Life Skills for Change.” Jewish Family Service will work with the West Ventura Job and Career Center to set up support groups to help single mothers make the transition from welfare to work.

Museum Gets $2,000 for Improvements

* The Ventura County Gull Wings Children’s Museum has received a $2,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation. The money will be used to make improvements to the facility.
