Traffic on Orangethorpe Avenue should start flowing more smoothly this week as work winds down on street improvements. For more than 10 years, city officials have been working to coordinate with the railroad and utility companies to improve conditions along Orangethorpe Avenue. The $650,000, three-intersection project will be completed by mid-June, although most of the construction will end this week, city officials said.

Traffic signals were installed at Rose Drive, Jefferson Street and Richfield Road. Left-turn lanes have also been added to Rose Drive. Jefferson Street, which was closed for a couple of weeks to widen the lanes, reopened last week. On Thursday, Richfield Road will be repaved.
