David Fitzgerald’s world literally came crashing down Tuesday morning. Actually, it was a wall in the 41-year-old sales manager’s office at Channelpoint, 4570 Campus Drive, that was damaged when a car came barreling through it and ran up onto his desk. One of the spinning front tires ended up about 2 feet from his face.
Fitzgerald wasn’t injured, and neither was the elderly couple inside the car. But everyone involved was rattled by the midmorning accident. The 67-year-old driver, whose car was parked next door at Coco’s restaurant, may have hit the wrong pedal, causing the car to bolt forward. The car crushed a fax machine and some computer equipment. Along with structural damage, Fitzgerald was told it will cost about $15,000 to replace everything.
