Benes May Return After Break
Andy Benes of the St. Louis Cardinals, a right-hander who injured his rotator cuff in the middle of the 1997 season, is close to beginning a rehabilitation stint. He hopes to pitch after the all-star break.
“I’m real confident I’ll pitch this year here,” Benes said. “It’s been a long time since I’ve pitched and I’m starting to smell it a little bit.”
