City officials said they plan to address concerns from nine homeowners who are angry that cement walls on their property may be torn down as part of a proposed senior citizen apartment complex at Bradford Avenue and Carlson Lane. The city has proposed replacing the residents’ existing partitions with one wall, instead of having back-to-back barriers that would leave a 2-foot gap in between.

Construction on the apartments, approved by the City Council in October, will begin as soon as the wall issue is resolved, city officials said.

The discussion of the issue at Tuesday’s council meeting angered Councilwoman Maria Moreno, who said residents were not invited to the meeting to voice their concerns. City Administrator Robert D’Amato said property owners and developers were not invited to the meeting because it was only an update to the council and there were no decisions made.
