The San Fernando Valley Bar Assn. will honor four community leaders for their public service at an awards ceremony Tuesday.

The association will give its Lintz award to attorney Robert L. Scott, former president of the Los Angeles Planning Commission, vice chairman of the Valley Industry and Commerce Assn., and a board member of the United Way and the Boy Scouts Council.

“Without question, he has devoted his life to the betterment of the community,” said association president Fred Gaines, “and has been a voice among all others in advocating the needs of the San Fernando Valley.”

The award is named for Stanley M. Lintz, who died in 1980 while president of the association, organizers said. Recipients are nominated and selected based on what they have done for the profession and the community.

Sharley Allen, volunteer coordinator for the San Fernando Valley Neighborhood League Services, will receive the volunteer of the year award for her work with battered women and other bar association programs.

The public service award will be given to Lynda Schwarz, coordinator of the Monroe High School Law and Government / Police Academy Magnet in North Hills.

Robert Fisher of Fisher & Associates, a public relations firm in Woodland Hills, is to receive the outstanding media award for his volunteer work in generating media coverage for the bar association’s Blanket the Homeless program.

The awards ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Calabasas Inn, 223500 Park Sorrento. Tickets are $50. For more information, call (818) 227-0496.
