State Gas Prices Slide as National Average Rises

Continuing a steady decline from the mid-April peak of $1.62 a gallon, the average price of gasoline in California slipped an additional 2.5 cents to $1.35 a gallon for self-service regular unleaded gasoline for the week ended Monday. A year ago, Californians were paying an average of $1.22 a gallon for regular unleaded. The national average price rose a tenth of a cent to $1.11 a gallon, according to the Energy Information Administration. The average price is 6.3 cents a gallon higher than last year at this time.
