The Public Safety Committee will present a report today on a proposed automated crime alert system, which works as a communitywide extension of Neighborhood Watch efforts. Under the system, a computer automatically calls city residents to notify them of crimes committed or emergencies occurring in their area. Both the committee and the City Council would have to approve the use of the new system. The city has already earmarked $35,000 in next year’s proposed budget for the system. The committee meets at 6 p.m. in chambers, 27841 La Paz Road. Information: (949) 362-4300.
