MTA Launches a Subway Shuttle to the Stars

Share

With Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin look-alikes on hand, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and city Department of Transportation on Wednesday launched a new DASH shuttle bus service that links the subway terminal to the entertainment and cultural venues along Hollywood Boulevard.

The “Destination Hollywood” shuttles will travel back and forth every 10 minutes along Hollywood Boulevard between the Vine Street Metro Rail station on the east and La Brea Avenue on the west. The service will continue until the Metro Rail is extended farther west into the Hollywood area. The Hollywood/Highland station is scheduled to open next May.

“They’re timed with the arrival of the subway trains,” said Gayle Anderson, an MTA public information officer. “[Riders] can just get right off the subway and onto the DASH to their other Hollywood destinations.”

Hours of operation are: 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; and 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekends. The ride is free to passengers with a Metro Rail ticket, monthly pass or LADOT pass, and 25 cents for others. For more information, call (800) COMMUTE or check MTA’s Internet site at www.mta.net
