Arquette, Cox Tie the Knot in Valentino

“Friends” actress Courteney Cox wed actor David Arquette in San Francisco on Saturday. Fans stood outside the church hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple, their celebrity guests and their Valentino outfits.

Cox wore a white long-sleeved silk crepe gown with inlaid satin embroidery stripes. Her tulle veil was sprinkled with embroidered shimmery dots and was accented by a silk flower hairpiece. She wore white satin mules. Arquette wore a gray morning suit with a silver tie and gray suede spats.

Women’s Wear Daily reported Tom Ford, creative director of Gucci, is not pleased with an article in the July issue of Vanity Fair called “Gucci and Goliath.” Ford claims he was misquoted twice by journalist Bryan Burrough and has sent a letter to the magazine that will be published in VF’s August edition. In the story, the “Goliath” is Bernard Arnault’s LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton. The issue is particularly sticky because of LVMH’s effort to take over Gucci.

The Coalition of Los Angeles Designers helped celebrate the opening of the Vermont/Santa Monica Metro Rail Station on Saturday with a fall fashion preview. The show featured designs from Cynthia Vincent of St. Vincent, Alicia Lawhon, Ethan/Sterling, Lynn Lugo and Talking to Angels. The event was held to raise awareness for Divine Design, the annual AIDS fund-raiser sponsored by Project Angel Food. Coalition designers raised $80,000 at Divine Design’s boutique in December.

L.A. designer Tarina Tarantino, best known for her butterfly and bug hair accessories, recently rolled out her first full line of jewelry for fall at a party at her Hollywood showroom. The new line of jewelry includes earrings, stackable bracelets, necklaces and rings using colorful beading--and not as many insects. “I don’t want to be known just as the bug lady,” Tarantino says. Look for the collection at Jennifer Kaufman and Saks.

Buyers shopped showrooms at CaliforniaMart and the New Mart for holiday season sports and evening wear during L.A.’s Fall II Fashion Week, which ended Tuesday. Buyers responded most to vibrant colors and interesting fabrics. Evening wear, bell sleeves, denim, fake fur trims, printed fabrics, calf-length and maxi skirts were popular in colors like loden green, fuchsia, red, orange and silver, and iridescents and embroidered metallics. Designers and sales agents who participated in the show included Lily Pulitzer, Alicia Lawhon, Apropo, Stella Pace, Showroom Seven, Patty Shelabarger, Tracy Watts and Monah Li.
