During an eight-day break in her tour schedule next month, Jewel will record a Christmas album, with Arif Mardin producing and arranging. The collection is due in November. . . . Tori Amos is slated to release a two-CD set Sept. 28, with one disc live and the other all new material. . . .

Robert Plant, Beck, Tom Waits and the Minus Five (which includes R.E.M.’s Peter Buck) have recorded tracks for “More Oar,” a song-by-song re-creation of the 1969 cult-classic psychedelic album “Oar” by former Jefferson Airplane and Moby Grape drummer Skip Spence, who died in April. The album is due July 6 from Birdman Records, with a release party July 12 at the Oar House in Santa Monica. The original “Oar” is also set for reissue with five extra tracks in August from the Sundazed label. . . .

A fifth volume of music recorded on “Morning Becomes Eclectic” on KCRW-FM (89.9) will be released Sept. 7, but without the “Rare on Air” title of the previous ones. Called simply “Morning Becomes Eclectic,” this one will include tracks by Air, the Freestylers, Pink Martini, Cake, Morcheeba and Joe Henry, with more to be added.
