* James D. Brubaker has joined Shady Acres, a Universal Pictures production company headed by Tom Shadyac, said the Universal City-based company.

Brubaker and Shadyac previously collaborated on the films “Liar Liar” and “The Nutty Professor.”

Brubaker most recently was executive producer on “Life” for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment, which co-starred Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence.

* Susan Levin has been named vice president of production at Warner Bros.-based Silver Pictures in Burbank, announced company founder Joel Silver.

Levin comes to Silver from Threshold Entertainment, where she developed and produced the TV series “Mortal Kombat: Conquest.”
