8 pm: Dance

Nearly everything is top secret about the UCLA engagement of the White Oak Dance Project except the presence of Mikhail Baryshnikov and five women: Raquel Aedo, Emily Coates, Emmanuele Phuon, Ruthlyn Salomons and Susan Shields. The exact programming is very hush-hush, and may change nightly, but at Escondido earlier this month, it included Trisha Brown’s “Glacial Decoy,” Lucy Guerin’s “Soft Center,” Amy O’Brien’s “Vessel,” Tamasaburo Bando’s “Dance With Three Drums and Flute” and Mark Morris’ “The Argument.” However, we make no promises since our spies report that Neil Greenberg’s “MacGuffin” and Guerin’s “Two Lies” are also part of this 10th anniversary tour. Don’t say who told you.

Noon: Art

Two new exhibitions of contemporary art will open today at Pasadena’s Norton Simon Museum. “Art From Stone: Prints From the Tamarind Lithography Workshop, 1960-1970” will include 45 lithographs (a printing process that uses a flat stone to create an image) by Clinton Adams, Richard Diebenkorn, Ed Moses and other West Coast artists affiliated with the important workshop; and “Made in America: Contemporary Paintings and Sculpture From the Norton Simon Museum,” a survey of painting and sculpture from the 1960s and ‘70s, will feature works by 18 artists, including Robert Irwin, Donald Judd and Robert Rauschenberg.

8 pm: Theater

“Medea,” the darkest of dark Greek tragedies, gets an irreverent new spin in “Medea: The Musical,” John Fisher’s outrageous comic spoof, which was a critically acclaimed hit in its 1996 San Francisco debut. Fisher, who received the Will Glickman Playwright Award for best new play to premiere in the Bay Area, will direct the show here.
