vs. Minnesota, 7:30

* Records--Sparks 3-3, Lynx 2-2.

* Update--The Sparks take on the expansion Lynx tonight in only the second L.A. home game of the two-week-old season. This is about as close as anyone will get to a WNBA-ABL matchup. Coach Brian Agler won two ABL titles at Columbus and through player allocations and the draft has brought as many Quest players as he could to Minneapolis. Five of his 11 are ex-Quest players. Guard Tonya Edwards is averaging 16.5 points in four WNBA games, almost exactly what she averaged in two full seasons in Columbus. Agler also has Katie Smith, an ABL all-star and U.S. world-championship player who only recently completed rehabilitation after knee surgery last year. Forward Andrea Lloyd-Curry, 33, was talked out of retirement by Agler after the Quest’s second ABL championship. The Lynx’s first player, via allocation, was former Stanford standout Kristin Folkl, who also had knee surgery in 1998. Folkl, at 6 feet 2, was projected as a double-digit rebounder, but she’s not yet a starter. She is reportedly developing more slowly than expected after knee rehabilitation, averaging 16 minutes and 4.3 rebounds. Minnesota started 2-0 but has since lost to Houston and Sacramento. The Sparks scored and rebounded with the Houston Comets for 37 minutes Tuesday but faltered in the stretch to lose, 84-76. Lisa Leslie is averaging 19.7 points and 9.2 rebounds.
