Air Charter Firm Cancels All Flights

Share
From Times Wire Reports

The discount travel service SunJet International, based in Smyrna, Ga., canceled all its flights without explanation, leaving ticket-holders without rides to a half-dozen cities. A recorded message on SunJet’s toll-free telephone line said it also is no longer taking reservations and promised would-be passengers a refund within seven days. The company’s Web site still advertised charter flights connecting Detroit and Newark, N.J., and connecting Newark with the Florida cities of Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa, St. Petersburg and West Palm Beach for fares starting at $79. The company, operated as a public charter by World Technology Systems, had arranged flights connecting the cities since 1993. There was no comment from the company on the cause of the cancellation, its financial status or how many passengers had been booked when the shutdown was announced.
