Pat Valenzuela, the troubled former jockey with a history of substance abuse and suspensions, was charged Tuesday with allegedly robbing a cab driver of $150 at gunpoint.

Valenzuela, 36, of El Monte, was charged with one count of robbery with the allegation that he used a handgun, Deputy District Attorney Leonard J. Torrealba said. He was being held on $75,000 bail.

Valenzuela was arrested by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies Friday, two days after he held up a taxi driver in Rosemead, Torrealba said.
