It’s an Alvin Ailey weekend in downtown L.A., with three mixed bills by his American Dance Theater on view at the Ahmanson. It’s the only dance concert scheduled at the whole three-theater L.A. Music Center for all of 1999, so get it while you can: a big company on a big stage, still celebrating its 40th anniversary and its institutional endurance 10 years after Ailey’s death. Watch for an “Ailey Classics” program (mostly excerpts) tonight and Saturday afternoon; “The Prodigal Prince,” “Lettres d’Amour” and “Revelations” on Friday night; and “Streams,” “Cry,” “Echo: Far From Home” and “Revelations” on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
