Police Seek Teen Suspect in Fatal Drive-by Attack
Los Angeles police continued searching Sunday for a teenager thought to have fired the fatal shots in a Pacoima drive-by shooting that authorities believe was a case of mistaken identity.
Police were looking for a juvenile, said to be about 16, with a shaved head. He was described as about 5 feet 8, weighing 120 to 130 pounds.
Francisco “Frankie” Javier Cano, 19, was shot to death Friday morning in the driveway of his home in the 13500 block of Vaughn Street. He had been hauling in trash cans.
A car carrying two young men pulled up, and the passenger jumped out and opened fire, police said. The driver, a 17-year-old from Pacoima, was arrested shortly afterward.
Investigators said he made statements to police, but authorities declined to reveal details.
“He provided us with information that is pertinent to this case,” said Det. Craig Orange of the LAPD’s Foothill Division.
Orange asked that anyone with information on the case call detectives at (818) 834-3110.
