Question from March 2:

Dr. Seuss, a.k.a. Theodor Geisel, was born March 2, 1904. To commemorate his life’s work, we ask that you submit a Seuss-style stanza.

On this freeway, the 405,

Cars are stopped, I cannot drive!

I think I’ll need to walk instead,

Or better yet--go back to bed!

--PAM SCHULZ, Culver City

You know it’s been a bad day

Driving kids every which way

When wherever you sit

Whatever the chair

You reach for the seat belt

To find it’s not there.

--ANNIE OLSON, Ventura

Thanks to wonderful Dr. Seuss

I’ve read Shakespeare and even Mother Goose.

On his birthday he’s given ME the gift:

That reading continues to uplift.

--YVETTE L. POLAR, Palmdale

Green eggs and ham, ham and green eggs.

Critters with long and very short legs.

Seuss drew them all, in ranks upon ranks.

So here’s to you Doctor, with thanks upon thanks!

--WALTER HOPMANS,

Santa Barbara

On the occasion of his natal arrival

Be it Seuss or LeSieg or Theodor Geisel

Let’s all read his books to ensure his survival.

--W. WEISE, via Internet

My sons grew up on Seussing.

To them he was never confusing.

I, on the other hand, would always laugh

That they understood all and I only half.

--VALERIE BURGESS

La Crescenta

Sarah’s shelves are full of Seuss.

Read them, read them on a moose.

Geisel’s books are full of joy.

Loved by all the hoi polloi.

--JOAN WEISE, Los Angeles

A number of airlines are decorating the tails of their airplanes (see story, this page). What designs do you suggest they use?
