Weight-Loss Doctor Faces Charge of Sexual Battery
The city attorney’s office filed charges against a Beverly Hills physician Monday after a male patient accused him of sexual battery at a Panorama City Weight Control Center, a spokesman said.
Morton Klein, 72, faces two misdemeanor counts, including sexual battery and engaging in sexual contact with a patient while working as a physician, according to city attorney’s spokesman Mike Qualls.
Klein is to be arraigned in Van Nuys Municipal Court on April 7.
The patient went to the center for a weigh-in Jan. 5 as part of a weight reduction program, authorities said.
Once there, Klein instructed the patient to go to a room and disrobe. The doctor then allegedly began rubbing the patient’s chest, groin and buttocks, Qualls said.
The man dressed and left before reporting the alleged incident at the Van Nuys station of the Los Angeles Police Department several hours later.
