Police Seeking Man Linked to Robbery
Oxnard police are searching for a gunman suspected of robbing and kidnapping a man who was passing through town on business.
After checking into the Channel Islands Motel, in the 1100 block of East Channel Islands Boulevard, the 48-year-old Pleasant Hills businessman heard noises Thursday night outside his room.
While looking outside, the businessman, whose name police did not release, was approached by a man with a handgun about 10 p.m. The gunman, said to be in his 20s, demanded the man’s wallet, but the businessman apparently had no money.
The businessman agreed to drive the gunman to a nearby automated teller machine and withdrew $300. The two then left the bank and the businessman was later ordered out of the car.
Police found the rental car later in the night, but have not been able to locate the gunman.
