Ted Kennedy Jr. to Speak at CSUN Disabilities Conference

Cancer survivor Ted Kennedy Jr. will be the keynote speaker at the Los Angeles Airport Hilton on Wednesday for Cal State Northridge’s Center on Disabilities’ 14th annual conference, “Technology and Persons With Disabilities.”

Kennedy, who lost a leg to bone cancer at age 12, will speak at 7:30 a.m. in the hotel’s International Ballroom.

Kennedy has lectured throughout the world about his experiences with cancer, health-care reform and civil rights for people with disabilities. Today, he studies environmental factors that lead to disease and disability.

Since 1992, Kennedy has worked as part of the research faculty of the Yale University School of Medicine and director of the New Haven Lead Safe Home and Community Health project, a community program that researches pediatric lead poisoning.

The conference runs today through Saturday. More than 3,200 people from around the world attended last year’s conference.
