Ice Dogs Fail to Overcome Blades’ Early Momentum

Nick Naumenko scored a pair of power-play goals in the second period Wednesday night to lead the Kansas City Blades to a 4-3 victory over the Ice Dogs before 2,995 at Long Beach Arena.

The Ice Dogs (43-23-4) remained in second place in the Western Conference’s Southwest division.

Long Beach pulled goaltender Manny Legace in the final minutes but was unable to score as the Blades earned only their second victory against the Ice Dogs this season.

Pavel Rosa scored two goals for the Ice Dogs while Louis DeBrusk added the other.

The Ice Dogs began their comeback attempt on DeBrusk’s goal in the second period. Their final goal, however, came when Rosa scored at 15:46 of the third period.

David Ling and Jason Cirone also scored goals for Kansas City.
