Flynn, Schillo and SOAR

Re “Balance Is the Goal,” Ventura County editorials, April 18.

The Times has once again completely missed the big picture on Save Open Space and Agricultural Resources (SOAR) and Measure A with this editorial. This is not surprising since from the beginning The Times has been totally out of touch with the voters of Ventura County and done everything it could to defeat SOAR.

Contrary to your headline, balance is not the goal. Implementation is the goal.

Only Supervisors John Flynn and Frank Schillo seem to realize what the goal is. Isn’t it interesting that they were the only supervisors who had the guts to publicly support SOAR? The rest of the Board of Supervisors seem to be acting in a way that will slow down or even neutralize the will of the voters.

I am most thankful that Supervisors Flynn and Schillo chose to take on the rest of the board on April 13. They all need to be held accountable for their actions. I am especially thankful for Supervisor Flynn, who all along has understood the will of the voters. He is to be congratulated for his actions. The people of Ventura County owe him our deepest gratitude for having the staying power to continue the fight against the sludge of bureaucracy.
