With chants of “M-V-P” raining down on Tim Duncan from the largest crowd in the NBA this season, the San Antonio Spurs played an inspired fourth quarter and defeated the Utah Jazz, 84-78, Sunday at San Antonio to prevent the Jazz from clinching the home-court advantage throughout the postseason.

The Spurs can earn that distinction by winning their final two games--at Portland on Tuesday and at Golden State on Wednesday.

Duncan had 26 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots, outplaying Karl Malone down the stretch and showing rare flashes of emotion before a crowd of 35,122.
