Two commission seats will remain vacant for two more weeks after Councilman John Paul Ledesma was unable to win support from other City Council members for his nominations. A majority of the council shot down eight of Ledesma’s nominees for the Community Services, Planning and Investment Advisory commissions. The council approved Ledesma’s third choice for the Community Services Commission, Sylvia Schweitzer. Most of Ledesma’s choices are known as vocal critics of the existing council majority and top city officials.
The other four council members’ nominees were ratified by unanimous votes. Ledesma will get another chance to make his appointments to the Planning and Investment Advisory commissions at the May 17 council meeting.
