The Board of Directors for the Tri-Cities Municipal Water District has recovered more than $26,000 in misappropriated funds. From October 1996 to February 1997, a former employee wrote five district checks without authorization or board approval. Upon discovery during an annual audit, the former employee repaid the entire amount with interest. Because of the employee’s cooperation, the board decided not to press charges.
