For travel through the end of this month, BritRail is offering a low-cost “Weekender Pass” for $103 standard class and $130 first class; children 5 to 15 are half fare, and under 5 is free. The pass is good for unlimited train travel in Britain for four consecutive days that include a Saturday night. By comparison, a regular FlexiPass, good for any four days in two months, costs $235 standard class and $350 first class. The Weekender Pass is available for purchase only in the U.S. Call your travel agent or BritRail at (888) 422-2748.

Tourists who want to walk their way through Britain can now make the Web their first stop. The British Tourist Authority’s site at https://www.visitbritain.com/walking replaces its “Britain for Walkers” folding map, which is no longer being produced. The site lets you click on maps to find routes, lodging and local attractions. There’s also weather data and information on walking tour operators.
