Athlete of Year Candidates Picked

The Orange County Athletic Directors Assn., announced the candidates Wednesday for the male and female athletes of the year.
One athlete from each Orange County league is eligible to be named the county’s athlete of the year, to be announced June 2. The Academy League did not participate. The candidates:
Boys--Matt Mahoney (Villa Park), Richard Herrera (Cypress), Johnathan Pate (Fullerton), Doug Baughman (Bolsa Grande), Alfonso Leon (Santa Ana), Brett Young (Calvary Chapel), Asi Faoa (Magnolia), Ryan Johnson (Laguna Hills), Dennis Alshuler (Corona del Mar), Scot Thompson (Trabuco Hills) and Jeffrey Larson (Marina).
Girls--Rebekah Anderson (Canyon), Aprile Powell (Century), Lillian Hewko (Sonora), Heidi Foster (La Quinta), Brook Brown (Tustin), Salina Camarillo (Whittier Christian), Lauren Jacobs (Valencia), Allyson Marquand (University), Amanda Shanklin (Santa Margarita), Lindsay Pavlik (Mater Dei) and Chanda McLeod (Marina).
